So, I often ask when commissioning folks about how long should I expect things to take. Not for rushing, just for an idea of what their expectations are upfront so we're on the same page.
Every so often I get brief confusion. It is almost always a sign of awesome. "On the weekends I'm usually slower going". Like for real, I've got some of these that are many month things, a mere weekend is nothing and it's amazing seeing that kind of 'I am charging ahead with getting things done' attitude on an out of the blue note about commissions.
Anyhow, so I've never commissioned
before. I followed him intending to but just hadn't gotten around to asking. I think he had made an update to this
and I was like 'man, this guy cranks out cool looking art and doesn't charge much, I should hire him already'. So I did. Poked him on Sunday with a quick jot-down of a medieval Dee and a few days later, boom it's there. Guy works fast.
Concept was kinda simple. Figured I'd give a D&Dish adventurer vibe to Dee and play off a bit of the strengths at doing big beautiful strong women that Blazbaros has. Inspired by the mighty she-rhino
in a sense, went with Dee rocking the 'I am a tank and can hip-check you across the room'. I had a heck of a time finding decent ice sword refs that weren't 'look at me, I've made an icicle into a sword, aren't I clever?' but think it turned out nicely. Anyhow, was a pleasure, would commission again.
Have a few in flight right now and slowly remaking my house, so sadly need to tell myself 'no, don't get big comic commissions' but this was easy, and about the price of a meal, so some good fun art to share
I yammer...and now I vanish to bed.
Also for randomness of edit,
the last time Dee was drawn as an armored knight, back by Matsu.
