X without many other options, takes the opportunity in hopes of another power up.  Figure X in this take is less caring either way on gender, since how would he have gotten much of that ingrained anyway with so much war going on.  It certainly catching him by surprise as his frame gets a good deal smaller, before the upgrades start getting installed by Dr. Light's patented "Well, they just warped in" method.

I definitely appreciated the time that got spent adding those little lines in the backdrop to bring out the whole sort of techy 'had these parts built, installing them now' vibe of it from Megaman X 1.  Roll even got a cameo, because of how ridiculous it is that she never seems to be the beneficiary of Dr. Light's magnificent work.  For those who enjoyed (or suffered through) the tv series, she had a handy vacuum gun, with a few options on it that ranged from silly to effective, but were easily outshone by the plasma busters her brothers got.  Here we have cutey Roll as more commonly seen in the later Megaman's as the art style.  Just a cut-in that sort of arose from us discussing where the parts came from and Dr. Light's sort of absent thinking toward his existing robots (Why didn't either of them benefit from this super gear he hid away?).
